    District Cafeteria Manager


    • Plan, organize, and direct the District’s food service and nutrition programs; develops and implements District-wide policies and procedures to assure compliance with federal, State, and local laws and regulations.
    • Assist in the development and preparation of the annual budget for food service operations and authorizes expenditures in accordance with established guidelines.
    • Review, interpret, implement, monitor, and supervise regulations, policies, and procedures of the National School Lunch Program.
    • Develop, monitor, and supervise the free and reduced-price meals program in accordance with current policies and regulations as required by the State Department of Education and assists by problem solving and maintaining records.
    • Researches, assembles, and analyzes information for federal and state reports; gathers required supporting documents.
    • Participates in the selection of the food service staff.
    • Assists in developing and conducting orientation, training, and instruction seminars for new personnel in the nutrition service operations; assists with supervision and evaluation of food service staff.
    • Provides standards for the quantity, quality, and nutrition of food prepared and served.
    • Directs the selection of foods and supplies, and coordinates and checks for proper storage and efficient use; inspects food for quality.
    • Oversees the menu planning to ensure adequate nutrition and dietary balance needs are met.
    • Assists in preparing bids and specifications for food, supplies, and equipment; compares bids for quality, price, and service and recommends award.
    • Prepares written and oral reports and maintains records.
    • Communicates with school administrators, district personnel, parents, and outside organizations; resolves issues and conflicts and exchanges information.
    • Operates a variety of office equipment including a computer and related software; operates a variety of kitchen equipment as necessary.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Works closely with the Chief Business Officer in all phases of cafeteria accounting and reporting.

    Director of Maintenance and Operation

    Under the supervision of the Superintendent, is responsible for the formulation and the
    administrations of the district wide maintenance and operations program. Plan, coordinate,
    supervise, and participate in the work of District equipment operations, custodial, maintenance,
    and grounds work. Works closely with administrators, acts as the lead person in the
    Maintenance and Operations department. Assist workers with repairs; maintain records, compile
    data and prepare routine reports. Supervise various maintenance activities including special
    projects; train and evaluate performance of assigned staff. This position is a non-represented
    classified supervisory position.

    EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Important duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    1. Ability to communicate effectively with others, good listener.
    2. Assumes full management responsibility for all Maintenance and Operations Department
    services and activities including maintenance, custodial, grounds maintenance, and
    recommends and administers policies and procedures.
    3. Acts as a liaison among internal, eternal district customer groups
    4. Works independently and as a team member
    5. Works well with vendors.
    6. Consults and collaborates with outside agencies in the design, installation, and
    maintenance of school and district sites.
    7. Continually monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery
    methods and procedures. Assesses and monitors workload, administrative support
    systems, and internal reporting relationships. Identifies opportunities for improvement.
    Directs the implementation of changes.
    8. Assists in selecting, training, motivating, and evaluating Maintenance and Operations
    Department personnel. Works with employees to correct deficiencies. In collaboration
    with the superintendent and HR/Payroll Manager implements discipline procedures
    9. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.
    10. Plans, directs, and coordinates Maintenance and Operations Department’s work plan.
    Meets with staff to identify and resolve problems. Determines scheduling and assigns
    projects and programmatic areas of responsibility. Reviews and evaluates work methods,
    procedures and completed projects.
    11. Confer with school administrators and staff to obtain scheduling information regarding
    athletic and special events; coordinate custodial, grounds and maintenance requirements
    with school and district-level staff.
    12. Perform inspections of school facilities and grounds; identify needed maintenance and
    repairs. Prepare and maintain records, files, logs, and reports related to personnel,
    inventory, work requests, work performed, safety issues and other reports related to
    assigned activities. Prioritize and coordinated duties and assignments to assure effective
    work flow and facility operations.
    13. Manages and participates in the development and administration of the Maintenance and
    Operations Department budget.
    14. Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints.
    15. Supervises the preventative maintenance program.
    16. Test, order, receive and store custodial and grounds supplies and equipment; maintain
    budgetary records and files related to purchases, work orders and personnel. Conduct
    period inventories; complete property loss forms as necessary.
    17. Determine needed equipment, materials and supplies for maintenance operations;
    requisition a variety of supplies, tools and equipment; review purchase requisitions
    submitted by staff and make recommendations for approval; assure proper receipt of
    ordered materials.
    18. Monitors compliance with appropriate laws, codes, and regulations. Monitors, reviews
    and implements Asbestos, hazardous materials, and Energy Management Programs.
    19. Maintains inventory on all district maintenance and operations equipment.
    20. Travels for district approved training.
    21. Performs related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by the Superintendent
    or Chief Business Official.

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty
    1. Ability to compile and maintain accurate, complete records and reports.
    2. Knowledge of modern office technology, methods, practices and procedures; type and
    operate various office machines.
    3. Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
    4. Understand and carry out oral and written directions
    5. Meet the public tactfully and courteously, and provide assistance and service.
    6. Knowledge of the requirements of maintaining building and facilities in good repair.
    7. Knowledge of technical aspects of general maintenance work and building
    8. Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, terminology, and equipment used in
    industrial custodial, routine grounds keeping and maintenance work.
    9. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of
    administrators, clients, customers, all levels of staff, and the general public.
    10. Ability to readily take direction and follow through in an independent manner.
    11. Possess and maintain valid California Drivers License.

    ● Associate’s degree (A.S.) or Bachelor’s degree (B.S) preferred from an accredited college
    or university
    ● Five years of increasing responsibility in maintenance and operations
    ● Experience and knowledge of basic principles of management of custodial, maintenance,
    and grounds departments is preferable

    1. Require vision (which may be corrected) to read small print;
    2. Require the mobility to stand, stoop, reach, and bend;
    3. May involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and ramps;
    4. Requires mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small
    5. Requires the ability to stand for long periods;
    6. Requires the ability to sit and walk for extended periods;
    7. Perform work which involves frequent lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects which
    may weigh approximately fifty (50) pounds;
    8. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions;
