PUBLIC COMMENT POLICY

Individual Speakers shall be allowed to address the Board on each agenda or non-agenda item.  Speaking time is limited to three (3) minutes per speaker with a maximum of twenty (20) minutes per topic.  Complaints against specific district employees should be resolved through the District’s Personnel Complaint procedure.  The right to address the Board does not exempt the speaker from any potential liability for defamation.   The proceedings of the Board are part of the public record.  The law limits the response of Board members and prohibits the Board from taking any formal action on issues raised during public comment time. (An individual who requires disability-related accommodations or modifications including auxiliary aids and services in order to participate in the Board meeting should contact the Superintendent in writing at 309 Jackson Street, Yreka CA 96097).
